Is Google muscling in on Foursquare?

Checking in on an iPhone

The big G has quietly launched a leaderboard points system for check-ins on their Android Maps.

I‘ve just checked in to my local Marks & Spencer ‘Food Hall’ (not hard. It’s downstairs in the basement!) and it turns out I’m the mayor!
