Spend a day hanging out & learning from Expedia at their HQ in Seattle

Seattle skyline
Here’s an unprecedented chance for two of our travel blogger friends in the USA to spend the day networking with other bloggers and learning about the travel industry from some of the top people at the global online travel agency Expedia at their headquarters in Seattle.

The small and exclusive ‘Blogger Day’ event is being hosted by our launch partner Expedia and is intended to be both educational & practical, AND we are holding a competition to select two Travelllll.com readers for some VIP treatment!

The educational aspects will include formal time with Scott Durchslag, President of Expedia Worldwide at Expedia HQ where bloggers will learn about their online travel offerings with a specific focus on both mobile and underlying technology improvements and initiatives bloggers may be able to learn from in tackling some of their challenges. There will also be a chance to delve deeper with other Expedia executives on a range of topics.

The practical elements demonstrate the kind of travel experiences you can incorporate into an Expedia trip plan, but in a ‘hands on’ way! They include a chance to see downtown Seattle with lunch in the city before meetings at the Expedia HQ. Then, in the evening, you can relax with your fellow bloggers in a suite at the Seattle Seahawks Monday night football game!

The Blogger Day event takes place on December 12, 2011. If you are based in the USA and would like to attend, Travelllll.com and Expedia will fly two bloggers to the event from anywhere in USA. Not only that, we will put you up in a 4-star hotel for the event itself and offer an additional 2 night stay once the event is over. This will give you the opportunity to experience some more of Seattle and to check out the local activities available on Expedia.

(If you’re already attending the event, you can still enter this competition and enjoy our special Travellll.com VIP package that includes the additional 2 night stay and extra activities.)

How do you get selected for this fabulous trip?

Well, if you are available on these dates, all you need to do is leave us a comment to tell us that you’re interested and tweet to us using the hashtag #ExpediaT5. Please include your blog or twitter details so that we know where to find you!

We will randomly select our two winners, who will jet off to Seattle and spend some time with fellow bloggers and the folks at Expedia.

We look forward to your comments and tweets.

I am SO interested! Although I am based in Montreal, I’m a short drive from Burlington or Plattsburgh airport and I would definitely love to take part in such a great opportunity. I’ve always wanted to visit Seattle and frequently use Expedia for my own travel, so needless to say this is the perfect trip for me. Yay! :-)

  2. Durant Imboden

Sounds cool. I’d be interested. My wife and I have several travel blogs, including venicetravelblog.com, efvblog.com, and maggieinvenice.com. (Our main site is Europeforvisitors.com, an editorial travel-planning site.)

I’m based in the U.S. with good airline connections to Seattle.

  3. Jan Ross

I’m in Kentucky but would hop on a plane in a minute for this event. I am probably one of Expedia’s best customers!

  4. Roy Marvelous

I soooo want to go. But I’m based on a cruise ship, so I guess I’m stuck here :|

  5. Kirsten

I would be quite interested to meet team members at Expedia and learn from such a well-known US brand. I’m interested in the way they could work with travel bloggers and writers as well as interested to learn their take on the future of travel for Americans. Seattle is a great town, Expedia seems like a great company – I can’t think of a contest in the US I’d rather win right now. It would be incredibly fun to live tweet a several day trip to Seattle as well. Such a great town with so much culture and so much to photograph!

(Glad to see you getting involved more stateside T5!)

  6. Stephen Chapman

Great package. Throw my name in the hat, please. I’m based in Washington, D.C.

  7. Ethan Gelber

Kudos to Expedia for opening up their world to two lucky bloggers, one of whom I’d very most happily be. And a tip of the hat to T5 for helping to make it all happen. You’ll find me with the red editorial pen behind thetravelword.com (also @thetravelword), a blog that showcases responsible, sustainable and local travel; and localtravelmovement.com (also @localtravels), a non-profit platform/blog started by people with a passion for Local Travel and commitment to Local Travel values.

Great promotion guys! I’d love to be able to attend & write about this event. I love to see the ‘big dogs’ of travel getting involved and more acquainted with bloggers/social media. As a TV journalist, turned travel blogger, I’d love this chance to meet and collaborate with some execs at Expedia. And of course, going to Seattle, one of my favorite US cities, is a big bonus. I’m based in Chicago (home to the ‘other’ big travel search engine that rhymes with, cough, schmorbitz) and it’s an easy flight to Seattle. Thanks!

  9. Judy Cloutier

I would love to be picked to go to the Expedia Headquarters in Seattle. This would be a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from everyone there. “Pick Me To Go” “Pick Me”

  10. Jan Schroder

I’ve just recently thrown myself into the Twittersphere (GirlontheGoJan) and am loving it. I’ve primarily been a print person for years (Managing Editor of Travelgirl magazine) and am just now really focusing on my Girl on the Go blog, which I’ve been writing for three years. Tagline: Travel Journalist Jan Schroder Explores the Planet, One Drink at a Time, http://www.janschroder.com. I’d love this opportunity to learn more about Expedia and would enjoy networking with other bloggers and of course, visiting Seattle.
I live in Atlanta and yes, we do have the world’s busiest airport. Really.

I’m definitely interested as well! I really love Seattle, and would be really excited about the chance to get an “insider” view of Expedia. As a journalist-turned-blogger-turned-tourism-student, this is absolutely up my alley.

  17. Nancy D. Brown

I’m in! I’d love to jet off to Seattle for a couple of nights and get the Expedia inside scoop. You may find me on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/Nancydbrown and http://twitter.com/#!/ridinghorseback. My “What a Trip” blog offers insider tips to places and I haven’t written about Seattle yet!

  18. Michelle

Wow, what a great opportunity to learn and connect with the travel industry. I would love to have the opportunity to visit Expedia’s HQ, as I have been using them to buy my airplane tickets for a long time now. It would be great to see how the company works, meet some of their people and learn about their culture.

Thanks guys, we are very excited to announce our winners. We will keep you posted!

  20. Sherry Ott

Not sure if this is still open to ‘enter’ – but if so I’ll throw my comment into the ring! As the owner of 2 travel websites which are growing rapidly I’d love the opportunity to meet with the folks at Expedia and talk about their business, blogging relationships, and the airfare travel industry, My two websites (ottsworld.com & meetplango.com) operate quite differently; one is a traditional blog and one is a niche travel site which is building a community of career break/sabbatical travelers online and in person at events around the US. Career Break travelers are longer term travelers which means more complex airfare tickets. This opportunity would be great for me to get my brands in front of Expedia where I have no contacts, but it would also be good for Expedia to learn about how bloggers are inovating and not only using digital means to build influence to help people make their travel decisions. The overarching goal of both sites is to inspire, influence, and teach people how to travel; I think a trip to Expedia HQ would be a great opportunity to further that goal! I”m currently in the US and have been unable to attend any travel shows this year due to my travel schedule – so I’d love the chance to be included in this!

  21. Charlie Grosso

I would love to attend if this is still open. I am a professional photographer and an avid traveler. My blog, http://www.SpyTravelogue.com is more in-depth than the general “Top 10 Places” and “Must See” travel blogs. SpyTravelogue is about what happens to us on the inside when we are on the road perpetually, when we stop being a tourist and engage. I write honestly about the highs and lows of traveling, the effort and desire for genuine engagement with the local communities and what do we do with all of these new experiences when we come back around to our perspective homes. I think a trip to the Expedia HQ would be great opportunity to generate ideas on how to deepen engagement within the travel blogging community and aspired travelers at large.

Woot woot! I’m in, sounds awesome. Just a hop skip and jump from Boston and I have plenty of vacation days! In all seriousness, this sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity, very cool for the folks at Expedia to open this up and for T5 to hook it up! Good luck everyone!

  24. Kaleigh

Sounds like an amazing opportunity! My blog is at http://www.cruizecast.com and is focused on both cruising and general travel. My twitter handle is @cruizecast
