Poland is co-hosting the UEFA EURO 2012 European Football Championship this summer (with Ukraine) and has been taking small groups of specialist journalists and bloggers to visit some of the cities where the matches are being staged.
The PNTO London office is planning another trip next month, but as Project & Travel Information Manager, Agnieszka Bigaj, explains, the 10-person group will be exclusively bloggers, and…
This time we want to spend a little more time there, visiting more than one city in the area, and concentrating on some of the other things that visitors can do in addition to watching great football. So the plan is to fly to Wroclaw, then transfer to the mountain resort of Zakopane, and end the tour in the historic city of Krakow.
Another unusual element will be a visit to a shooting range where the bloggers will get a chance to fire the famous AK-47 assault rifle and some other weapons including Glock pistols…
There was a missed opportunity to do it on a recent press trip, and all the journalists were so keen, our director is determined to squeeze it into the schedule for this trip.

The UK has become the center of press trips these days.
It definitely has. I can see why – Brits are big travelers and have several budget airlines established there, so anything to promote that is usually worth the investment. But on the other hand, it gets harder for bloggers based in other countries to get on press trips, and therefore leaves very little room to variety and geographical exposure.
Here in the U.S., we don’t have to take press trips to Poland to unleash a few–or more than a few–rounds. I once saw a guy firing an automatic at another man on the street. (He missed, but the car that the other man was hiding behind had some body damage.)
Yeah, you’re totally right. But in the UK, children still stare open-mouthed at armed policemen at the airport and over the years a number of countries, including yours, have spotted the fascination Brits have with guns and heavily marketed gun firing opportunities to us – esp stag party operators!
I think the last day of the itinerary worries me.. going out clubbing prior to a 7.30am airport transfer just spells disaster :)
:) …spect u’d manage though!
