The Lindian Village hotel is offering journalists and bloggers based in the UK a chance to slip away during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and spend five days (Monday 28 May to Friday 1 June) filing copy/posting from the poolside… your own private poolside.
This is how they describe the working week…
The commute: Fly business class from London to Rhodes and arrive at the hotel by limo transfer.
The ‘Office’: Stay and work in one of our Ottoman Gardens Pool Suites complete with private swimming pool, secret garden, four-poster bed, original art, antiques and wine bar with a selection of refined Greek wines and Champagne.
The daily ‘grind’: Start the day with breakfast in bed and a swim in your private pool, then work uninterrupted from the villa. When you need a break, rather than the office water cooler let the sea breeze refresh you. If the stress of the day gets too much, relax with a daily treatment at our Spa. Dine like a king at our five gourmet restaurants and choose your own wines from our cellar.
All that we ask is that you tweet and blog about the experience and spread the word about Lindian Village.
The competition mechanic is simple. Go to the hotel’s Facebook page. Click on the “Royal JournaLindian” (sic) tab and write in no more than 25 words what you would do if you were Queen or King for a day. Or tweet your entry to @LindianVillage. The three entries judged “most inspirational” will enter a draw and the winner will be announced on 1 May.

The competition, which has been created by PR firm, Media Co – FSS (using Wildfire), was launched yesterday.
Which is your choice? Stay in the UK and soak up the Jubilee atmosphere? Or head for a (sun) bed in the Med?
