So Long, and Thanks for All The Fish

On the 1st of June 2013, Travelllll.com will be turning off the lights.

We’ve had a wonderful ride for the last two years with highs, and lows. We’ve been bootstrapped since day 1, and all of us worked hard to juggle our personal and professional commitments to keep this site running.

Projects like this inevitably grow and change, both in scope and in vision. We’ve reached the point now where many of our original team have new and exciting things they’re working on, and we’ve run out of time and resources to keep this going (as you might have noticed).

It hasn’t been an easy decision, and we’ve looked for alternatives. We could leave the site online, but ultimately it would simply degrade over time and eventually break. We don’t want to leave it in a state of limbo.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in the short period of time which we graced your RSS readers. From running our own press trips, to sponsoring the world’s largest travel blogging conference two times as the headline media partner. We traversed 5 continents in our efforts to explore a mishmash of technology and travel and media.

I’d like to thank every partner who we worked with – particularly Expedia, GoPro, KLM, Tourism Australia, Tourism Spain, Visit Britain, Visit Denmark, LBi London, fourBGB, Sheraton Hotels and Guoman Hotels. Thanks for believing in us.

I leave you with one of our highlights of the last two years, hanging out with 800 of you. On a mountain in Colorado.

Cheers

- John, and the whole Travelllll.com Team

If you want to keep in touch, you can find all of us on Twitter. Alastair is running his Travel Coffee Breaks, Lezaan is galavanting around Africa, Rich is missing and believed to have been kidnapped by Native American Indians, Melvin is still running the wildly popular Traveldudes community, and Mike is still muttering away.

As for me, I’m working on a little thing called Ghost.
